The primary galvanizing issue was Health Care Reform. In spite of this, the Democrats won't give up on ramming Health Care Reform down the throats of people that don't want it and President Obama continues to push his radical, progressive, Marxist agenda down the throats of a relatively "center-right" American public. President Obama is planning a speech tonight to share his "vision" for the future. Everything I've heard so far suggests that it is more of the same: bigger government, more governmental intrusion, more wealth redistribution, and more lies. The American public voted President Obama into office not because they liked his snake oil, but because they hated the previous administration and the Republican candidate: John McCain. I can't blame them. I didn't like them either, but I don't think the American public realized who they were electing. The American public is starting to see it's mistake, but the Democrat's and President Obama just don't get it. They still think the American public wants their snake oil. Let's see...in Nov. 2010.

Humanism is a Religion

I read an article online today talking about "Religion inspired bloodshed" in Nigeria. We all know that "Religious feuds" are responsible for horrendous things, but "organized religion" seems to be singled out as the source far too often. Atheists love to point out the atrocities committed by the "Christian Church" during the crusades, but they seem to conveniently ignore the fact that far worse attrocities have been committed by people with a "religious view" that does not fit into one of the world's few, large, god-centered religions. Humanism is a religion. Atheism is a religion. Environmentalism is a religion (or a sub-category of humanism). Religious views are not reserved for the major religions of the world like Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, or Hinduism. Religious views are held by everyone. Everyone has a belief about the fundamental questions of life such as the origin of life, the meaning of life, and how we should live. These are religious views, even when held by people that don't profess a belief in a supernatural creator (God). It is time for everyone to realize that we all have religious views and those who believe in "science alone" are not somehow superior or more enlightened than those who believe in a creator.

Liberal Intolerance

Today's question comes in response to comments made by one of my more liberal friends last night. She stated that she could never live in a "white suburb" or be in places that felt too much like a "GOP convention". My question is: why is it that liberals extol the virtues of multi-culturalism and tolerance, yet they don't want to be around and don't want to tolerate anyone with an opposing view?????

New Year's Resolutions

I have never really done New Year's resolutions, with the exception of a "resolution" to read through the Bible in one year back in 2008. This year, I haven't made anything formal, but I am definitely pondering several things of importance. Here are what I have so far:
1) Be kinder and gentler to my wife
2) Help my wife around the house more
3) Read more
4) Train myself Java and maybe learn to program Android applications
5) Improve my attitude at work and reduce cynicism
6) Significantly reduce the use of profanity

Well, it's Jan. 20th and so far so good. I think I need to do a better job with #2, but I'm doing well with the others so far. Hoping to keep up the good work.
